How NaijaVox handles your data, protects the community, and explains the rules that keep public debate usable.
Effective 27 August 2026 · Applies to the NaijaVox website and related services operated for users in Nigeria and abroad.
About NaijaVox
NaijaVox is a public opinion and verdict platform built for Nigerian audiences and the wider diaspora. People post claims, rate them, debate them, and follow creators whose judgment they trust. The product is designed for open discussion—not for private messaging as a primary use case, and not as a substitute for formal legal, medical, or financial advice.
We operate the service from infrastructure and processes that support continuous availability, moderation tooling, and audit trails for staff actions. Account roles (members, moderators, and administrators) exist so that content decisions can be reviewed and, where necessary, reversed.
How it works
A Verdict is a structured post. Depending on the mode the author chooses, other people can rate it, take a side, answer a poll, or leave an open discussion. Votes and reactions update heat and ranking signals that surface active topics in discovery feeds.
Publishing. Signed-in users can create Verdicts subject to community rules and automated checks.
Voting and reactions. Counts are stored against your account so you can change a vote where the product allows it. Guest browsing does not grant voting rights.
Following and activity. Following another account personalises your Following feed. Activity records help you see recent engagement on your own profile.
Moderation. Reports, freezes, and community notes are handled through staff tools. Serious violations can lead to content removal or account restrictions.
Privacy
This section describes what we collect, why we collect it, and how long we keep it. It is written for clarity, not as a substitute for jurisdiction-specific legal advice.
Information you provide
Account data. Username, email address, password (stored as a one-way hash), optional bio, and avatar.
Content. Verdicts, comments, votes, reactions, reports, verification documents you upload, and messages you send inside the product.
Optional advertising profile. Country, region, city, gender, and similar fields you choose to save under Account settings. These fields are optional and can be left blank.
Information collected automatically
Usage. Pages viewed, Verdict impressions, approximate device type, and basic diagnostics needed to keep the service running.
Security logs. Sign-in attempts, password resets, and staff moderation actions, retained to investigate abuse and account compromise.
Cookies and local storage. Session cookies for authentication, preference keys (for example appearance), and similar client storage required for a signed-in experience.
How we use information
To operate accounts, feeds, voting, notifications, and creator tools.
To detect spam, coordinated inauthentic behaviour, and other rule breaches.
To measure product performance (for example reach and vote rate on Verdict analytics available to authors).
To communicate service notices, security alerts, and responses to support requests you initiate.
Sharing
We do not sell personal data. We share information only when necessary to run the service, for example with infrastructure providers under contract, when required by applicable law or lawful process, or when you publish content that is intentionally public (Verdicts, public comments, display name, and avatar).
Retention
Account and content data remain while the account is active. You may request deletion of your account; residual copies may persist for a limited period in backups or where we must retain records for security, dispute, or legal obligations. Security logs are kept for a limited operational window and then discarded or aggregated.
Children
NaijaVox is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us using the details below so we can review and remove it.
Safety
Public debate works only when people can speak without harassment and without being drowned out by spam or coordinated abuse. The following expectations apply to all accounts.
What is not allowed
Threats, incitement to violence, or targeted harassment.
Sexual content involving minors, in any form.
Non-consensual intimate imagery.
Impersonation intended to deceive, including fake institutional accounts.
Spam, bulk scams, phishing, or malware distribution.
Attempts to evade bans, manipulate votes at scale, or interfere with moderation systems.
Reporting and response
Use in-product report controls on posts and comments when something breaks these rules. Moderators review queues, may freeze a Verdict to stop further comments, and may remove content or restrict accounts. Outcomes depend on severity, history, and available evidence—not on the popularity of a post.
Your safety practices
Use a strong, unique password and treat password-reset email as sensitive.
Do not share one-time codes or recovery links.
Be cautious with links in comments and messages; NaijaVox staff will not ask for your password.
Block or report accounts that harass you; escalate through support if the behaviour continues.
Transparency
Ranking and discovery are driven by engagement signals such as votes, comments, shares, and heat. Promoted or administrative placements, when used, are intended to be distinguishable from organic Verdicts. Staff actions that freeze content, remove material, or change account status are logged so internal review is possible.
We may publish product notices when material policy or ranking changes take effect. Individual moderation decisions are not always public, both to protect reporters and to avoid teaching bad actors how to game the system.
Visibility. Content you publish as a Verdict or public comment is visible to other users of the service.
Blocks and reports. Available from post and comment menus where the product exposes them.
Verification. Optional identity verification, when enabled for your account tier, is handled through the verification flow and reviewed by staff.
Sign-out. Use Logout on your profile menu to end the current session on this device.
To request a copy of core account data we hold about you, or to request account closure, write to the contact address below from the email on your account so we can authenticate the request.
